My Future in Technology

When I first signed up for this class on technology I thought, "what else do I really have to learn"? I know how to e-mail people, look up information, and type up flyer's. Well, what I soon found out was that I was looking up information incorrectly, typing BORING brochures and newsletters for my students families, and had no idea what a blog even was. After learning countless ways of using the Internet I feel more confident in saying I understand the WWW. I think I will use this new information most in my classroom. I will teach my students to research correctly, and send home more appealing flyer's so they do not get thrown away the second the student gets home. I think this class is good for everyone to take, if you are receiving a degree or not. I has defiantly made my life easier!

A way to get famalies attention through flyers, and newsletters!!

As a current special education teacher I feel it is extremely important to have school flyer's carefully read. I send home flyer's for upcoming field trips, parent night, fundraisers, and other important information I feel my parents should read. I am guilty of being so busy and just "wipping" up boring flyer's. This class has taught me to make them bold and appealing to make sure they do not get thrown away with all the other parers in the students backpack. I am currently working in a summer program that includes many field trips and parents have to be informed of the events ahead of time. My new knowledge of this technology has helped me look good and my program be more successful because the children and families are aware of the next days events.

Technoligies Discovered

Throughout the weeks I have spent in this class I have discovered many things. I first discovered that I am not as computer savoy as I thought. I thought when you need to look up information on a topic you should just "google it". I have learned that there is much more to the WWW than Google or Yahoo. The thing that I learned in this class that has impacted me the most so far is databases. Not only are they more accredited, but I have found more information on the subjects than I know know what to do with. This is something I will teach my students because as an English teacher, research is a big topic.
